Rec

The light-installation REC was built in the year 2000 (against the background of the political shift of power in the Austrian government). For one week the architectural grid of this building (Art University/Vienna) was used as a display to raise questions of perception and recognition within the public space:  What is recorded here? ... Who records whom? ... Am I being recorded?

With the help of a control relay the red point was kept blinking and by using the windows as pixels the writing was made visible. REC is a blow-up of a record button transferred into the urban landscape raising questions about the role of surveillance within public space.
